Alexsandra Kylie Walker, LCSW

Psychotherapist

I would like to first say thank you for taking the time to visit my website. The fact that you have found this page is not by chance. There are many therapists offering the same or similar services, but each of us are unique in our ability to connect with others. I like to work collaboratively with my clients to facilitate their self-awareness and growth. I would appreciate the opportunity to walk this journey with you.

I am a licensed clinical social worker providing individual, couple, and family therapy to adults in McKinney, TX and the surrounding areas. I am skilled in treating anxiety, depression, and adjustment to life events, including grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, and caregiver stress. I also work with clients who desire to improve their self-esteem and relationships. My role as a social worker in case management at a medical hospital has afforded me the capability to collaborate with various specialty physicians, nurses, and physical rehabilitation therapists, and to provide emotional support to patients and families when a serious medical diagnosis has been given.

I have held the position as treatment manager at two acute psychiatric hospitals acting as a liaison between the patient, family and psychiatrist. Additionally, it was rewarding to work as a clinical therapist at a day treatment program and a long-term residential treatment program for children and adolescents with behavioral disorders. I have served the community as a therapist providing in-home counseling for individuals diagnosed with a chronic illness, chronic pain and/or mental health diagnosis. I have also worked as a crisis interventionist and completed mental health assessments concerning psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

My preferred therapeutic approach incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy. Other counseling methods used include mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and motivational interviewing. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2004 and I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. In my private practice, Me Time Counseling, my vision is “A healthier you”. I hope to transform lives through self-awareness, self-care, and self-love.
